Job Opportunity: RN PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adult, and Geriatric
• Specialties Covered: General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology
• Bed Count: 34
• Daily Census: 30 to 40 patients
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 2 patients
• EMR System: EPIC

Work Schedule

• 36 or 40 hours per week
• Shift options:

  • 2 shifts of 10 hours + 1 shift of 8 hours, or
  • 4 shifts of 10 hours
• Primarily evening shifts with occasional day shifts
• No night shifts required
• Floating not required
• Rotating shifts may be needed occasionally

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of RN experience
• Required Certifications (must be current and valid):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Health & Compliance Requirements

• N95 Fit Test (within 1 year, updated annually)
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30) with no exemptions
• TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
• Health Statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred
• Tdap vaccine preferred (within 10 years)

Background & Credentialing Requirements

• Professional license verification with primary source verification (no conditional licenses accepted)
• Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start
• Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start
• National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start
• Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually
• Education verification of highest degree achieved
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required)
• Submission of:

  • Resume with past 7 years of work experience (including city & state)
  • Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above)
  • Skills checklist
  • Candidate submission coversheet
  • Confirmation of assignment/POI form upon acceptance
