Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
• Requires either:

  • 3+ years of Emergency Room nursing experience and previous travel experience, or
  • More than 5 years of experience in a large Emergency Department without travel experience
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
• May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• At least 3 years of total travel nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MOAB) training
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Safety Requirements

• Documentation of:

  • Two MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
  • Completed Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Annual Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years, no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
• Tuberculosis screening:

  • 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
  • If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
• Fit test for respiratory protection (annual update required)
• Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to assignment start, updated annually
• 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter

Documentation and Onboarding Requirements

• Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 90 days of start
• Employment verification for the past seven years
• Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
• Signed assignment agreement and onboarding attestations completed prior to or onsite at start
• Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
• Completion of required pre-hire modules and onsite onboarding processes
• Annual updates and re-verifications required for many credentials and screenings

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is required (3+ years experience with travel or 5+ years without travel)
• Must be able to work flexible locations within a 40-mile radius if needed
• Specialty competency and skills checklists must be completed and updated annually

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs who meet the certification and health requirements and are comfortable with travel assignments and floating within a regional area.
