Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) or Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
- Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need, which may be PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry.
- Candidates with Med-Surg or Stepdown RN experience are accepted (credentialing is the same for both).
- Must be willing and able to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within a 40-mile radius as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Med-Surg and Telemetry experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Professional resume/profile submission required.
- Nursys license verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, and National Sex Offender Registry completed within 30 days of assignment start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Completion of specialty competency exams and skills checklists with minimum passing scores (including Ascension Specialty Exam, EKG Exam, Core Competencies).
- Completion of onboarding education attestations and contract worker onboarding modules.
- Epic system test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
- Varicella immunity (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes, chest X-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
- Annual physical exam or statement of good health.
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address on file.
Additional Notes
- Must complete all required documentation and exams prior to or at onboarding.
- Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in PCU or Med-Surg Telemetry who are flexible and able to work night shifts in a dynamic acute care environment.
