Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Nashville, Tennessee

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: December 8 (Non-negotiable)
Shift Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
Location: Floating between units/facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity. Notification provided before scheduled shifts if floating is required.


Job Description

  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Assignment involves floating between different units or facilities within a 35-mile radius.
  • Floating assignments depend on staffing needs and patient acuity.
  • Travelers will be notified in advance if floating is required.

Required Credentials & Certifications

Licenses & Verification

  • Nursys Verification: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start.
  • Current Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Driver's License/State ID: Must be current and match address on file.

Certifications (Must be AHA approved)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years.

Health & Immunizations

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: TB testing requirements including annual updates.
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended).
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.

Testing & Competencies

  • Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score; updated yearly.
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of 80% required; only two attempts allowed.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start; updated annually; includes 12 specific drugs.

Onboarding & Professional Requirements

  • Ascension Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
  • Two Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; updated annually.
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System): Run within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
  • Education Verification: Relevant clinical education verified within 90 days of start; updated if break in service > 90 days.
  • Employment Verification: Past 7 years verified; updated annually.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire 6-hour module.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.
  • Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background; no alterations.

Optional

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional for onboarding; uploaded by unit leader.
  • Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire: Optional but recommended.
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation: Post-assignment evaluation.
  • Name Change Documentation: Legal documentation if applicable.

This position requires thorough credentialing and compliance with Ascension Health’s onboarding and ongoing requirements. Floating flexibility and adherence to health and safety protocols are essential.
