Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Special Care Nursery

Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 36-hour rotating shifts, 3 shifts of 12 hours each
  • Shift times: 7:15 PM – 7:15 AM or 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Schedule based on unit needs; rotation not guaranteed
  • Includes weekends and holidays

Required Qualifications

License

  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Documentation of MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
  • TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 1 year of start date
  • Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year of start date (no exemptions allowed)
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required
  • Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred (or proof of immunity or declination)
  • Tdap vaccination preferred (within 10 years)
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest x-ray documentation
  • TB symptom survey if positive PPD (optional)

Background and Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date
  • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date
  • Social Security Number trace for past 7 years
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start date
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date
  • Education verification of highest level achieved (except CNA)
  • Name change documentation if applicable

Submission Requirements

  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
  • Two professional references within 4 years (minimum one supervisor or above)
  • Skills checklist completed within 1 year
  • Candidate submission coversheet (current version)
  • Confirmation of assignment/POI form upon acceptance and for extensions

Orientation and Testing

  • Completion of self-study orientation and attestation prior to onboarding
  • Medication exam with 80% passing score within 1 year (RN & LPN)

This position is ideal for experienced NICU Registered Nurses seeking a long-term assignment with rotating 12-hour shifts in a specialized care nursery setting. Compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing requirements is mandatory prior to start.
