Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

Job Description

• Provide care to patients in General Nuclear Medicine (NM) and/or PET/CT using Siemens imaging equipment (Symbia, Intevo SPECT/CT, Biograph MCT Flow PET/CT).
• Support clinical research, imaging protocols, and specialized nuclear medicine workflows in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Collaborate with teams to perform research imaging procedures and assist with radiopharmaceutical therapies.
• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including creating documentation to assist other NM techs with research procedures.
• Call required once every 9 weeks.
• Strong NMT/PET skills and experience in research environments are required.
• Emphasis on good communication skills, attention to detail, and patient-centered care.
• Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Kentucky.
• Minimum of 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in research-focused nuclear medicine environments.

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) accepted.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if applicable.
• Chemotherapy certification if applicable.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) if applicable.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) if applicable.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card if applicable.
• Facility-specific competency exams including medication/pharmacology, math ability, conscious sedation, and unit-specific competency exams.
• Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication required for certain units.
• Color Blind Testing via Relias within 1 year of start.
• Annual renewal and maintenance of all certifications and competencies during the contract.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Comprehensive background checks including county, national, sex offender, FACIS III, and education verification.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion checks within 30 days of start and updated annually.
• Transcript or diploma verification.
• Employment verification covering 7 years.
• Two supervisor references verified within 6 months of start.
• Explanation required for any employment gaps longer than 30 days.
• Signed facility-specific policies including confidentiality, acceptable use, electronic communications, and password policies.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (acceptable masks include Halyard Regular/small, 3M N95 models).
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
• Negative TB test (PPD or TSPOT/QuantiFERON) within 1 year, renewed annually; chest x-ray required if history of positive TB.
• Annual TB questionnaire if history of positive TB.
• Immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination with annual renewal).
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific drug panels required; rapid drug screens not accepted).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption, updated annually.
• COVID vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required; booster preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Information

• Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance.
• Must be able to pass facility-specific exams and competency tests.
• Research-focused role with a strong emphasis on advancing patient care through innovative nuclear medicine research.
• Call frequency is low (once every 9 weeks).
• Day shift hours may shift slightly based on patient scheduling.
