Job Summary: Radiology / Cardiology - X-Ray Tech (Per Diem)
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work exclusively at one RWJ site; commitment to 4 shifts per month required.
- Position: X-Ray Tech needed for inpatient and outpatient settings including OR, portables, fluoroscopy, and ED patients.
- Shift: Every Saturday, 07:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Orientation: 1 day computer training at home, 2nd day on-unit starting at 7 AM
Requirements
- Valid X-Ray Technician license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 3 years of X-Ray Technician experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Proficient in fluoroscopy study skills.
- Experience with C-Arm procedures.
- Experience with Epic charting system.
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA required, RQI and instructor cards acceptable.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Not required for X-Ray Tech.
- Other certifications: Follow facility-specific requirements as applicable.
- Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required as applicable.
- Pass/Fail Testing: Pharmacology and EKG exams required for clinical staff; remediation process in place for failures.
Background & Health Requirements
- Criminal background check required within 30 days of start.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for contract renewals.
- Drug screen (10-panel) required within 30 days of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray required (specific testing protocols apply).
- Physical exam within 12 months required, must clear candidate to perform essential job functions and confirm no communicable disease.
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- Fit test and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start.
- Color blindness testing required within 1 year if job tasks require color discrimination.
- Latex allergy questionnaire required within 1 year.
Documentation & Compliance
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required.
- Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start).
- References: 2 references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
- Various facility-specific attestations and acknowledgments required (e.g., annual education sign-off, floating policy).
- Must comply with RWJBarnabas Health policies including background attestations and vendor medical clearance forms.
Additional Notes
- Parking is free in unrestricted spaces; garage monitored by security cameras.
- 1-year separation required for previous staff.
- Sub review turnaround time may take 1-2 weeks.
- Candidates must be 100% committed to the assigned site; switching locations is not permitted after approval.
This position is ideal for experienced Radiology Technologists with strong inpatient/outpatient skills, who hold the necessary licenses and certifications, and are comfortable working a consistent per diem schedule on Saturdays.
