Step Down RN — Travel/Contract

Assignment Details

• 13-week contract
• Day shift: 4x12 hours, 7:00–19:00
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Up to 40 hours of time off can be approved

Unit Overview

• Acute and intermediate care unit for thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients
• 28-bed unit with 22 acute-care beds and 6 intermediate care beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 4–5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in intermediate care

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Stepdown experience with 2 years of experience
• Stepdown experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic
• Must adhere to float policy

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS

Patient Population / Clinical Focus

• Thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients
• Examples include CABG, valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart and lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
• Intermediate care patients may include fresh lobectomies, patients receiving TPA, AAA, CABG/valve, lung transplants, select cardiac drips, and arterial lines
