Registered Nurse - PACU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (10:00 AM – 8:30 PM)
• Patient acuity ranges from ICU to outpatient; must be comfortable with ICU patients or willing to learn
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Telemetry skills required
• Preferred experience with pediatric recovery patients
• EPIC electronic medical record system experience required
• No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
• On-call requirement currently averages 12 hours per scheduling period, subject to change
• No local hires accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or MAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Telemetry skills
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background checks including multi-county/state searches, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of assignment start
• Current driver’s license or state ID with address verification
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
• Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite)
• Immunizations and/or titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (full vaccine within 10 years; declinations allowed except for pediatric-related units)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; no declinations)
  • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; no declinations)
  • Hepatitis B (proof of 3 vaccines or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start, renewed annually; if positive, chest x-ray required within 1 year
• Drug testing (12 panel) must be started within 72 hours of booking and within 30 days of assignment start
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
• Employment application with last 7 years of work history and explanation of gaps over 30 days
• Two professional references from employment within 3 years, including one supervisory reference
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgments required

Additional Notes

• Orientation dates available on 7/20 and 8/3
• Pass/fail testing consequences: failing twice may result in assignment cancellation
• Candidates must sign a traveler welcome letter prior to start
• Tobacco, nicotine, and vaping policy must be reviewed before start

This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a high-acuity environment including ICU-level patients and pediatric recovery.
