Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech - Surgical Services

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Surgical Services / Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Tech
• Shift: Day shift (5 days a week, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Hours: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day
• Average case volume: 3 cases per day
• Number of ORs: 2
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call Requirement: 1-2 nights per week and every 3rd-4th weekend
• Floating: Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs, preferred when no CVOR surgeries are scheduled
• Locals and first-time travelers accepted
• Pending state license accepted
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist
• CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Certifications & Competencies

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit (check unit-specific requirements)
• Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course, NIH Stroke Certification) – verify with unit description
• Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest related education required before start
• State-specific searches and registries as applicable (Missouri and Illinois)
• Fingerprinting required for assignments involving long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually; facial hair must allow proper fit testing
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept-April)
• HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Regulatory compliance education and orientation modules must be completed annually

Documentation & Other Requirements

• Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred, within last year if possible)
• Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
• Various state-specific forms and registrations may be required depending on assignment location

Additional Notes

• Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: 7 days
• Candidates must adhere to all facility policies or risk being sent home from shifts
• Candidates may be required to complete additional certifications or training depending on unit assignment

This position is suitable for both first-time travel healthcare workers and those with prior experience. Prior travel experience is not required.
