Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 - 7:00)

Job Description
- Work on a mixed unit including PCU, Med Surg/Telemetry, and Med Surg.
- Floating required within the service line and to Monroe as needed.
- Every other weekend required.
- Patient age groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics.
- Staffing ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients.
- Skills required: Med Surg/Telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required: central and peripheral line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs.
- Respiratory skills required: nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management.
- Experience with Pyxis medication system and Epic electronic health record.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan.
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (AHA provider, instructor, or RQI cards accepted).
- BLS (AHA provider, instructor, or RQI cards accepted).
- NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually unless 2-year expiration).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required annually (pass/fail; 2 attempts allowed).
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (Aegis de-escalation) can be obtained onsite after start with approval.
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required annually.
- Education verification required (highest level).
- Fingerprinting: Michigan LARA fingerprint results required for all psych positions; fingerprinting requirements vary by unit and state.
- NURSYS verification required for RN license.
- State-specific background checks (Michigan ICHAT search for Michigan placements).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within last 12 months (latex-free PPE available).
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 3 months of start, updated annually.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or TD if proof of prior Tdap exists; declination accepted except for certain pediatric facilities.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); declinations not accepted during flu season.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable unless on prescription).
- N95 fit test required within 12 months of start and annually thereafter; onsite completion possible with approval if all options exhausted.
- Respiratory safety clearance required for failed fit tests or onsite exceptions.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 2 years of start; at least one must be from a leader (Charge RN or above).
- Skills checklist required for all candidates.
- Completion of a time-sensitive agency form at least 10 days prior to start, including submission of a professional headshot for badge printing.
- Adherence to dress code as specified by the facility.
Notes
- Floating within the service line and to Monroe as needed is mandatory.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
- This position is not open to local travelers within 50 miles.
