Job Description
- Unit: Primary unit is PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
- Floating: May float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed.
- Patient Ratio: 1:2+ (to be confirmed with traveler).
- Unit Capacity: 19 beds.
Experience Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of PICU critical care experience, including 1 year of cardiac experience (must be documented).
- Skills Required:
- Competency in caring for patients with various cardiac conditions (e.g., ASD, VSD, AV Canal Defect, valve replacements, Glenn and Fontan procedures, Tetralogy of Fallot, post-cardiac surgery).
- Experience with Medtronic pacemakers, telemetry monitoring, BIPAP/CPAP, vents, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomies.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for certain roles.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for specific units.
- Additional Certifications:
- NIH Stroke Certification for Adult Critical Care specialties.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification for ER, Peds ER, or Behavioral Health RNs.

- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted.
Documentation and Compliance
- Background Check: Required within 30 days of start.
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam required within the previous 12 months.
- TB screening required (blood or skin test).
- Proof of vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Varicella, Hepatitis B).
- Flu Vaccine: Required annually, with exemptions for medical or religious reasons.
