Job Description

• Unit: Primary unit is PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
• Floating: May float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed.
• Patient Ratio: 1:2+ (to be confirmed with traveler).
• Unit Capacity: 19 beds.

Experience Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of PICU critical care experience, including 1 year of cardiac experience (must be documented).
• Skills Required:

  • Competency in caring for patients with various cardiac conditions (e.g., ASD, VSD, AV Canal Defect, valve replacements, Glenn and Fontan procedures, Tetralogy of Fallot, post-cardiac surgery).
  • Experience with Medtronic pacemakers, telemetry monitoring, BIPAP/CPAP, vents, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomies.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for certain roles.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for specific units.
• Additional Certifications:

  • NIH Stroke Certification for Adult Critical Care specialties.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification for ER, Peds ER, or Behavioral Health RNs.

• First-time Travelers: Not accepted.

Documentation and Compliance

• Background Check: Required within 30 days of start.
• Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start.
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam required within the previous 12 months.
  • TB screening required (blood or skin test).
  • Proof of vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Varicella, Hepatitis B).
• Flu Vaccine: Required annually, with exemptions for medical or religious reasons.
