Position Details
- Specialty: Surgical Services
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Schedule: Day shifts
- Call: 1 day per week and 1 weekend every ~4 weeks (subject to change)
- Weekend: Only required during call
- Floating: Within facility/scope of practice and to Main OR as needed
- Minimum Experience: 5 years preferred, 3 years considered (unit accepts first-time travelers)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Holidays: No holiday RTO accepted
- Start Date: Must complete privileging process prior to start (~120 days from signature)
- Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays push start by 2 weeks due to orientation schedule
Privileging Requirements
- Privileging Process: Required prior to start (~3 months) with a $150 application fee
- Hard Stop: Candidates must have experience in Cardiac, Vascular, Endovascular, Thoracic and hold CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certifications
- Additional Privileging Documents: Required for CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant and RNFA specialties
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted; required for RN’s/RRT’s/CRT’s in specific specialties
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted; not required for Microbiology Techs and Med Techs
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for RN’s in PACU/Pre-op/Endo/CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), ER
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire (no re-certification required)
- State License Verification: Must be licensed by the State of Georgia (for CRTs & RRTs)
- NURSYS Verification: Annual verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days prior to start
- NIH Stroke Certification: May be required depending on specialty
- Tech Cert Verification - National: Allied annual license verification within 30 days prior to start (if applicable)
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for RNs and LVNs by Aya only
- Color Blind Testing: Required for all candidates; alternative assessment available for blood collection tasks
- Competency Exam: Required for Nursing and Allied by Aya only
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Card tele/step-down, ICU, PCU; max 3 attempts allowed
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required by Aya within 1 year of start
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months of start; additional testing required for privileging specialties
- TB Questionnaire: Required annually for all candidates
- Vaccinations:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend past start
- Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination; additional compliance for privileging specialties
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Highly recommended; declination form required if no current record (privileging specialties only)
- Flu Vaccine: Required or declination; strongly encouraged during flu season (Nov-Mar)
- COVID Vaccine: Required or declination; strongly encouraged by Oct 31
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions
Background and History Checks
- Background Check: Required within 30 days of start; must include criminal, sex offender, education verification, and more
- References: 2 clinical references required by Aya
- Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof running
- Education Verification: Verification of related degree required; can be pending at start with proof running
Facility Specific Policies
- Code of Conduct and Acknowledgement: Must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Dress and Professional Appearance Policy: Must be reviewed
- Privileging Compliance Checklist: Required for privileging specialties; completed by Aya or agency
Additional Notes
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit before final manager decision
- Candidate must be fully compliant with all requirements to avoid start delays
This position is ideal for experienced surgical services professionals who meet the privileging and certification requirements and are comfortable with travel/contract assignments in a large healthcare system.
