Job Opportunity: Med Surg Cardiac RN (6CD)

Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year recent Med Surg experience within a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
  • Cardiac experience highly preferred but not required
  • Experience with EPIC EMR system
  • Ability and willingness to float to all med/surg units/locations within Fargo as needed

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active North Dakota RN license or Compact RN license (willing to obtain)
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • NIHSS certification required or willing to obtain prior to start

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Shift rotations vary: may work 3 weeks days then 3 weeks nights or all days/nights depending on unit needs
  • Travelers can self-schedule but must be flexible as schedule balancing may require shift changes
  • Efforts made to minimize frequent day/night shift flipping

Unit Details

  • Primary unit: 32-bed Med Surg Cardiac unit (6CD)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio:
    • Day shift: 4-5 patients per nurse
    • Night shift: 5-6 patients per nurse
  • Must badge in and out at the facility
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Additional Information

  • Must not live within 60 miles of the facility (travelers within 60-80 miles considered local)
  • Must have experience working in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Must note if previously worked for the facility; if yes, last end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission

Job Duties

  • Patient assessments and documentation
  • Completing nursing tasks and medication administration
  • Use of equipment including Epic EMR, Omnicell, and Alaris IV pumps

This position requires flexibility, strong Med Surg skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic hospital environment with floating responsibilities.
