Overview

• Travel RN role in Omaha, Nebraska
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour nights
• ASAP need

Unit / Setting

• HVI unit: Cardio/General ICU/PCU/MedSurg combined unit
• 18 beds
• Patient mix includes intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients
• Unit supports the thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart
• Common diagnoses include Cath Lab, CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR, and other cardiac and vascular-related diagnoses

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of experience with this patient population
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• RN must be able to titrate drips
• RN must read and interpret tele strips
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Preferred Qualifications

• Generalist ICU experience
• PCU experience

Schedule

• 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
• Every other weekend
• Manager schedules shifts; no block or self-scheduling

Float Scope

• Floats to all same-level and lower-acuity units

Additional Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
• Charge nurse is present and rarely takes an assignment
• Patient care tech ratio is 1:18
• Hospitalist and intensivist are in house 24/7; cardiology is on call after hours
• RT is in ICU 24/7
• RT equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula
• Navy blue scrubs
• 1–2 unit orientation shifts tailored to experience
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation; 90% required to pass
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
