Overview

• Travel contract for a Tele RN in Bryan, Texas
• Contract length: 6 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours
• Hours per week: 48
• Floating: majority of time will float within the 3 monitor pods; may occasionally float to MedSurg and may float between Bryan and College Station campuses

Required Qualifications

• Active TX RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• 2 years of experience
• Must be able to read and interpret strips independently
• Must pass the Basic Dysrhythmia exam before signing the contract
• Candidates must be willing to precept
• Must have EPIC experience

Preferred

• Neuro experience
• Cardiac experience

Unit Details

• Tele on 2nd floor
• Part of a monitor pod with Tele, Tele-Observation, and Tele-Neuro Stroke
• 35 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 on days and nights
• Common patient types include cardiac/tele patients such as CHF, post-CABG, Watchmans, dysrhythmias, EP cases, and some medical telemetry
• RN set-rate drips only; no titration required
• Tele/monitor techs are staffed 24/7
• Home regimen CPAP and BiPAP used on the unit

Scheduling and Expectations

• Self-scheduling, finalized by manager
• Block scheduling allowed
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Holiday requirement: 2 major holidays and 2 minor holidays
• Call or standby: none
• Call-outs are strongly discouraged and could lead to termination

Additional Notes

• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Basic Dysrhythmia exam includes up to 3 attempts
• Travelers are first to float
• Navy scrubs required; navy undershirts and navy scrub jackets only
• Orientation includes half a day with HR, unit educator time, and 2 shifts with a nurse on the floor
