Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel Assignment

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Emergency Room (ER) with 15 beds total
• 6-bed fast track open from 9am to 10pm
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 (varies by patient acuity)
• Common patient diagnoses: stroke, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, psychiatric patients
• Approximately 100 patient visits per day and 500-600 pediatric patients per month

Shift and Schedule

• Night shifts, 12 hours each (e.g., 7pm-7am, 9pm-9am, 10pm-10am, 11pm-11am, 2am-2pm)
• Schedule posted 30-45 days in advance
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holidays included in permanent staff rotation
• No floating required
• Floor-specific orientation: 2-3 days on unit

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of ER nursing experience (specialty experience requirement)
• Active California RN license
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• COVID-19 vaccination required

Additional Information

• Prefer candidates with Level III trauma experience or above
• Charge nurse duties expected, including managing a small patient load if needed
• Support staff includes nurse aides, unit secretary (24/7), and techs (20 hours/day)
• EMR system: Cerner (First Net)
• Telemetry monitoring with Phillips central monitor tech in ICU monitoring ER patient strips
• Ventilator patients present
• In-house physician coverage 24/7 with hospitalist or intensivist; midlevel providers available 9am-2am
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services available 24/7
• Scrub color: navy
• First to float on the unit
