Med/Surg RN Travel Position - California, Fairfield

Job Summary

  • Deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care based on established nursing theories and professional practice models.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for assigned patients.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and recovery.
  • Provide care tailored to patients’ physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise care team members.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and informed decision-making.
  • Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards.
  • Coordinate patient care activities with healthcare professionals and ancillary staff.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12).
  • Contract length: 8 weeks.
  • Float pool position: Nurses float between various Med/Surg and Med/Telemetry units at two nearby locations.
  • No mid-shift floating between the two facilities.
  • Department uses AWS system.
  • Double time pay after 12 hours per day; overtime after 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California.
  • Minimum 3 years of Med Surg and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Previous travel nursing experience.
  • Acute Care experience.

Physical & Communication Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
  • Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to document nursing care accurately using manual and automated systems.
  • Completion of annual organizational employment requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Facilitate safe patient handoffs.
  • Contribute to positive patient care experiences and assist in resolving complaints promptly.
  • Investigate complaints and provide information to management as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
