Radiation Therapist Position

Location: Pompton Plains, New Jersey

Shift: 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday

Job Overview

• Deliver planned radiation therapy treatments accurately with minimal supervision.
• Operate treatment units and maintain visual and audible communication with patients during treatment.
• Perform daily and monthly quality assurance (QA) on linear accelerators (linac) and CT equipment.
• Accurately perform Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), and portal imaging.
• Conduct CT simulation for radiation therapy following protocols, including respiratory gating and ACQ simulation.
• Construct immobilization devices and electron/cerrobend blocks as needed.
• Use IV contrast for simulation when required.
• Complete procedure verification assessments in MOSAIQ prior to simulation.
• Maintain and verify treatment management records in MOSAIQ, including treatment calendars, schedules, prescriptions, and imaging.
• Attend weekly chart rounds and review treatment planning parameters.
• Operate CT on rails for IGRT delivery and create electronic IGRT documentation and shift tracking in MOSAIQ.
• Follow all department policies, safety standards, and radiation protection principles (ALARA).
• Report equipment malfunctions related to patient treatment promptly.
• Maintain accurate daily treatment records and document any treatment plan changes.

Lead Responsibilities (if applicable)

• Train therapists in CT/Simulation procedures including AcQ simulation, respiratory gating, QA, mould room duties, and SBRT simulation.
• Ensure all necessary physician forms are prepared and available.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved Radiation Therapy course.
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification and registration.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with IMRT, 3D conformal radiation therapy, SRS, SBRT, Cone Beam CT (CBCT), and Align RT technology is strongly preferred.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks (89 days).
