Surgical Technologist 1 - OR

Job Summary

• Maintain a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis.
• Demonstrate competency in technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and knowledge base.
• Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients following department policies.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating supplies and equipment for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, coworkers, and self.
• Adhere to safety and legal requirements at the unit and hospital level.
• Charge for equipment and supplies.
• Participate in operating room turnover and setup.
• Maintain and clean equipment, identify items needing repair.
• Perform sterilization, disinfection, and document loads per policy.
• Assist with obtaining supplies, equipment, positioning devices, and patient positioning for procedures.
• Perform scrubbing duties, including assisting with classes for medical students and residents.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of surgical technologist experience within the last year.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills related to the procedure being performed.

Education

• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology
  OR
• Certificate of completion of a Surgical Technology program

Certifications & Licensure

• Valid Surgical Technologist license in Illinois
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• State fingerprinting clearance (IDPH Fingerprinting)
