PACU Registered Nurse

Location

Sacramento, California

Contract Length

17 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts
  • Start times vary from 0500 to 0930
  • Required call coverage includes weekend and weeknight shifts
  • 30-minute call response time
  • Floating may be required between Main and OPSC

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
  • PALS (AHA)
  • Acute recovery experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips

Unit Details

  • PACU with 8 PACU beds and 7 pre-op beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 or 1:2
  • Charge nurse available
  • No nurse aides
  • No vents
  • Hospitalist or intensivist in house
  • IV team available if needed
  • RT available 24/7
  • Pharmacy available 24/7

  • Total hips/knees
  • General surgery
  • daVinci
  • Neuro
  • Urology

Additional Information

  • Cerner used for charting
  • Scrubs provided
  • Weekend coverage is call only
  • Holidays rotate with core staff
  • Orientation is 1–2 days in PACU with a preceptor
  • Not a trauma hospital
  • PACU may care for ICU patients until beds open up
