Position Details

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 20
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Staffing: Tech support available on day and night shifts; Unit secretary available 7am-7pm
• Equipment Used: IV Pumps, Telemetry, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Continuous Pulse Oximetry Machines, Feeding Pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first; rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• Patient Care Expectations: Provide attentive and compassionate care, bedside shift report, build personal connections with patients and families, involve them in care planning

Required Qualifications

• Licenses: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Certification
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med/Surg nursing
• Skills:

  • Med/Surg experience
  • Ability to prioritize care and multitask
  • IV starts
  • Basic wound care
  • Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
• Hospital Certifications: Comprehensive Stroke Center, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center
• Work Environment: Supportive team with experienced staff, use of advanced technology and equipment
