Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Department

Location: Danville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN)
• Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in Emergency Department (ED) nursing
• Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Rotating weekends/as needed
• Call Requirements: None
• Number of Openings: 1

Unit & Patient Information

• Unit: Emergency Room
• Beds: 31 beds + 2 triage rooms (7 beds designated for Behavioral Health or Acute patients)
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:4 to 1:6; may vary during high volume or special circumstances
• Patient Population: All ages (pediatric, adult, geriatric)
• Electronic Health Records (EHR): Primarily MedHost (ED), Meditech for admit holds and behavioral health patients

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Handle with Care / Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
• NIH Certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
• Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented personality preferred
• Scrub color is traveler’s choice
• Float assignments as needed

Summary

This is a travel RN position in a 31-bed Emergency Department at a well-established academic community hospital. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of ED nursing experience, with certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIH, and pediatric emergency care (PALS or ENPC). The shift is nights, with rotating weekends and no call requirements. The unit serves a diverse patient population and uses MedHost and Meditech EHR systems.
