Unit Information

• Unit: Surgical Inpatient Unit (3rd floor)
• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 max
• Equipment Used: IV pumps, VS monitors
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner

Position Requirements

• Shift: Days
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
• Weekend Hours: At least 3 shifts per 4-week schedule
• Call Requirements: None
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Float Requirements: May float to Medical/Nephrology/Inpatient Rehab and occasionally to Cardiology or Pediatrics

Skills and Experience

• Must Have Skills/Experience:

  • Post-operative patient care, including ortho/neurosurgical/abdominal surgeries
  • Management of NG tubes, chest tubes, foley catheters, respiratory issues, diabetic care, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and pain management
• Preferred Skillset/Experience:

  • Excellent customer service and patient experience skills
• Common Diagnoses/Treatments:

  • A mixture of medical/surgical patients
