Registered Nurse - Pre Op (Travel)

Contract length: 13 weeks
Hours per week: 36

Unit Information

Unit: Pre-Op Holding / Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU)
Beds: 9 Pre-Op beds, 5 Phase 2 recovery beds
Staff: 8 full-time RNs (2 open positions), 2 part-time RNs, 4 PRN RNs, 1 unit HUC
Shift: Day shift only (5 AM to 5 PM)
Patient ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients
Equipment used: Pyxis, GE MACVU EKG machine, Doppler, patient scale, bladder scanner
EMR system: Meditech

Typical Procedures

Phase 2 recoveries for Urology, Gynecology, and other same-day surgery patients
Pre-op care for Surgery, Endoscopy, Cath lab, Electrophysiology, CT patients
Outpatient infusions, outpatient EKGs, nerve blocks, blood transfusions

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kansas
PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (1 year of experience)
PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Preoperative experience

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with Meditech EMR
Additional pre-op experience or ability to assist pre-op staff

Work Environment & Culture

Patient experience is a priority
Strong communication with staff and providers is essential
