Job Opportunity: CST/ORT Travel Position

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

Seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience for a travel assignment. Certification is mandatory. Candidates must have completed at least 2 prior travel assignments in this specialty—no exceptions.

Required Qualifications

• Certification:

  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in CST/ORT specialty
  • Must have CVOR experience
  • Must have completed 2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience required)
• Skills:

  • Excellent documentation skills including BCMA
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills for interdepartmental collaboration

Unit & Work Environment

• Unit: Cardiovascular Pre-Op (CV PreOp)
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Staffing: RNs, CNC support, secretary, manager (shared with CVOR)
• Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
• On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
• Floating: Within scope of practice and experience

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform large-bore IV starts
• Chin-to-toe hair removal
• Medication administration and skin assessment
• Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
• Transport patients to OR
• Assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation

Additional Information

• Critical care experience is a must; PreOp experience is a plus
• Dress code: Uniform provided
• Work in a high-acuity, technologically advanced unit with a focus on cardiovascular care
