Overview

• Travel assignment in Reno, Nevada

• 40 guaranteed hours per week

Required Qualifications

• State of Nevada Laboratory Assistant license
• Nevada Histologic Technician license
• Prior travel experience is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Histologic Technician Certification
• 3 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant in Histology or a Clinical Laboratory Histology Technician

Responsibilities

• Performs histological procedures on body tissue, body fluids, and bone marrow samples under the pathologist on duty
• Assists with specimen grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, slide quality checks, histology instrumentation operation and maintenance, accessioning, charting, bone marrow biopsies and aspirations, send outs, morgue/autopsy procedures, immunohistochemical staining, IHC instrumentation maintenance, QC of new reagent lots, and other clinical lab assistant duties

Additional Details

• May be required to float to organizational needs up to competency level
• May be required to work 2 or 3 major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
• Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
• Direct patient care is provided
• Fast-paced, high-volume environment
