Job Details

  • Specialty: Emergency Department (ED/ER)
  • Shift: Evenings (3:00 PM – 3:00 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (must be specified on submission)
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Weekend Hours: As required by facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Patient Ratio: Typically 4:1; may vary during surge or other circumstances
  • Unit Size: 68 beds
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with trauma and pediatric patients
  • High acuity experience with 200+ patients per day preferred

Job Description

  • Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
  • Utilize nursing process and maintain professional accountability
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • Work within Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
  • Demonstrate strong communication and clinical expertise in emergency nursing

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the shift
  • Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
  • Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment
  • Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs., pinching up to 15 lbs., minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Additional Information

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel period November 1 – April 1; declinations not accepted
  • No block scheduling available
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
  • Time off requests must be made on the back end of the assignment; only one holiday time off request allowed per assignment
  • Facility is a Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, and regional burn center
  • Known for high patient volume and acuity in a busy urban trauma center
  • Dress code: Black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans not allowed
