Registered Nurse - Med/Surg

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Acute Nursing
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
• Provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed; interpret and record measurements.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and report adverse medication reactions promptly.
• Collaborate on discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
• Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records.
• Adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital setting.
• Most recent experience must be within the past year.
• Skills in physical assessment, medication administration, wound care, infection control, IV therapy, post-operative care, patient education, and telemetry monitoring.

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute.

Certifications & Licensure

• New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (required for Queens only).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EPIC EMR system.
