Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room is responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff, applies evidence-based practice, and participates in quality and safety improvement efforts. The role includes assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, focusing on patient comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN also mentors and precepts staff members.

Job Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
Develop, prioritize, and implement plans of care; collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor/preceptor.
Encourage teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvements and comply with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

Experience

Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience.
Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
Experience in Vascular Surgery and ENT Surgery.
Overnight shift experience.

Education

Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
