Job Description
- Must be able to perform heart and lung transplant procedures.
- Will be required to take call.
- Scrubbing experience is a plus.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- Valid permanent RN license (Temporary licenses NOT accepted)
- License/Certificate Verification (Primary source verification within 30 days of start, updated every 2 years)
Required Health & Immunizations
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Preferred but not required (proof or approved exemption)
- MMR: Positive titers within last 15 years or booster protocol as specified
- Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years or booster protocol as specified
- Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series, or signed declination (no childhood vaccines allowed)
- Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years (declinations not accepted)
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct-Mar) or approved medical/religious exemption
- 2-Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Negative test within last 6 months; if positive, clear chest x-ray and current TB questionnaire required
- Fit Test: Completed within 1 year of start (specific approved mask types)
Background & Professional Requirements
- Criminal Background Check: Within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal sweep, and NSO
- Ohio Fingerprints: Required (BCI&I check and FCRA-compliant national database check)
- Social Security Trace: If not included in background check, to be completed within 1 year of start
- National Database Criminal Background Check: For Ohio residents, to meet fingerprint requirements
- Education Verification: Highest level of education verified; international equivalency required if applicable
- Employment Verification: Verification of employment within last 5 years through third-party
- I-9 Attestation: Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
- OIG Search: Completed within 6 months prior to start
- SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening: Completed within 6 months prior to start
Competency & Skills
- UHS Competency Exam: Must score at least 80%, completed within 1 year prior to start
- UHS Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required
- UHS Skills Checklist: Clinical skill-specific checklist to be completed within 1 year prior to start (initial hire only)
Additional Requirements
- Physical/Health Statement: Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year, stating ability to work without restrictions
- Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screens not allowed)
- Badge Photo: Professional headshot (shoulders up, plain background, JPEG)
- Submission Packet: Resume including education and work history, 2 professional references within last 2 years, and completed job application
- UHS Module Completion Certificate: Completion of safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance
Optional/Conditional Requirements
- Positive PPD: Negative chest x-ray and annual TB questionnaire required
- Annual Negative PPD: If 2-step PPD not done within past year
- UHS Social Security Trace and NSO: If not included in background check, to be completed within specified timeframes
This position requires a highly skilled RN with transplant experience, strong clinical competencies, and full compliance with all licensure, immunization, and background verification requirements.
