Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Telemetry
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Assignment in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Telemetry, specifically Miller 4 unit.
- Schedule: Every other weekend; Monday to Sunday shifts.
- Floating required within Central Pool PCU to Medical/Surgical or other Progressive Care areas. Travelers float first.
- Experience with cardiology patients, including post-cath, STEMIs, and structural heart patients.
- EPIC electronic medical record experience required within the past 2 years (non-negotiable).
- Must be flexible with scheduling.
- Large teaching facility experience preferred.
- No block schedules allowed.
- Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible).
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Mondays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required.
- Current RN license valid in Vermont.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA approved.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA approved.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required prior to start.
- Experience in cardiology and telemetry nursing.
- EPIC EMR experience within last 2 years.
- Willingness to float to other units within the PCU.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Complete and verifiable work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type.
- Explanation required for any employment gaps over 30 days.
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- Education verification as applicable.
- Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start and upon expiration.
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam.
- Color blindness testing.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- N95 Fit Test (annual).
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tdap within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season).
- COVID vaccination or declination.
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination if assigned to NY facility.
- Drug testing as required.
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start.
- Various facility-specific forms and attestations including abuse registry consent, emergency contact, dress code, telephone usage, and COVID questionnaire.
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background).
- Auto insurance proof if applicable.
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and searches.
- Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) background check for Vermont assignments.

- Reliable transportation is essential due to lack of public transit.
- Orientation and training modules are mandatory and must be completed before start.
- Floating is a requirement and travelers float first.
- Large teaching hospital experience is preferred.
