Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN)
• Shift: 4x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM); 3x12 shifts may be considered
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:7
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: No
• Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Minimum 3 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification

Additional Requirements

• Completion of all assigned orientation and compliance modules prior to start date
• Attendance at staff meetings is mandatory
• Must provide proof of required immunizations and health screenings (see Health Requirements)
• Must upload COVID vaccination records or complete a vaccination declination form
• Clear, passport-style photo required for badge issuance

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical Exam: Initial physical exam within one year prior to start, attesting ability to meet job demands
• Immunizations:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine (during flu season) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
• TB Screening: Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; follow-up requirements if positive
• Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• COVID-19: Vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Documentation and Background Checks

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Complete employment application/resume
• Annual background check including:

  • SSN trace
  • Statewide and national criminal checks
  • Sex offender registry
  • Medicaid excluded providers search
• Education verification or diploma/transcripts as applicable
• NURSYS license verification required
• Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers (exceptions apply)

Orientation and Facility Specifics

• Modules and orientation materials must be completed before start; estimated 2 hours
• Facility uses Epic for charting
• Parking available at no cost
• Staff scrub color: Royal Blue
• Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation

Scheduling and Other Notes

• Block schedule accommodation requests considered but not guaranteed
• Locals may be considered under different pay terms
• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Local radius for travel: 60 miles

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg RNs with prior travel assignments who meet licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable working night shifts with floating responsibilities.
