Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Elkins, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM)
Schedule: Weekdays with some weekends and holidays; must be willing to work weekends
Charting System Experience: AllScripts and McKesson
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Local candidates not accepted; must live outside a 75-mile radius

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in West Virginia
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check (all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Fingerprinting through West Virginia CARES system (WV CARES) if applicable; candidates may start with fingerprinting pending
- State-specific WV Nurse Aid Registry check if applicable
Primary source verification of state nursing license (WV license required; online verification accepted)
NURSYS verification required for all RNs
Medication and competency exams as applicable

Health & Safety Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start
Immunizations and titers required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; annual updates required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines; may start with 2nd booster pending if needed
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination with signed form; vaccine series alone not accepted
12-panel drug screen including alcohol within 30 days of start
Respiratory safety clearance required and updated annually
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October 13 – March 31); medical exemptions require signed doctor’s note and facility exemption form; religious exemptions not accepted by this facility
Mask-wearing required if exemption is approved

Onboarding & Orientation

Completion of CareLearning modules (approx. 3-4 hours) prior to start date; must be completed before first shift
Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge
Signing of patient rights, confidentiality, and security agreements prior to start
Physical exam and immunization documentation must be current and uploaded before start

Additional Notes

Blocked scheduling cannot be guaranteed but the unit will attempt to group shifts when possible
Proof of 2 clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year
