Travel Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Work every other weekend
Float to other Medical Surgical units as needed

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
Minimum 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications (American Heart Association or RQI acceptable)

BLS (Basic Life Support) – required for all nursing positions
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required for certain units (not specified for this role)
Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI are not required for this position

Additional Information

Candidate may be required to float to other Med Surg units
COVID-19 vaccine is preferred as of 7/7/2025 but not mandatory if exemption approved
Must have clear, legible government-issued photo ID (passport, driver’s license, or state ID)
Resumes must include 7 years of employment history or back to graduation with no gaps over 30 days
Employment verifications must be complete with no pending or incomplete verifications
Must complete all required competency exams annually and maintain passing scores
Must comply with all background and health document requirements within 30 days of assignment start

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs who are comfortable working day shifts with weekend rotations and floating between units, and who meet the comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
