Job Opportunity: EP Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced EP Lab Registered Nurse for an 8-week travel contract. Candidates with a Cardiac Cath Lab background and EP Lab experience are encouraged to apply. This is a mixed procedural unit supporting Cardiac Cath, Electrophysiology (EP), and Interventional Radiology (IR), with a shared prep and recovery area.


Schedule & Shift Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week
  • Shift Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM (no rotating shifts)
  • No weekends or on-call required

Unit & Patient Information

  • Average Daily Census: 7 patients
  • Number of Rooms: 2
  • Number of Beds: 12
  • Patient Population: Adults with arrhythmias
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio (Day Shift): 1:4

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • Electrophysiology Lab experience
  • Experience with Epic documentation system

Technology & Systems

  • Medication management system: Omnicell
  • Documentation system: EPIC
  • Communication framework: SBAR

Additional Requirements

  • Floating to Cath Prep/Recovery area required
  • Orientation: Approximately 11.5 hours
  • Scrubs provided

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check and various state/federal screenings required
  • Education verification for nursing degree required
  • Physical exam and general health clearance within 1 year
  • Fit mask (N95) fit test within 1 year
  • Required immunizations and titers:
    • TDAP (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers and/or vaccinations as needed
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Drug screening per standard panel within 1 year
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required

Competency Exams & Training

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (pass/fail)
  • Core training modules (Parts I, II, III) and OSHA mandatory training annually
  • New York Harassment Prevention Training annually
  • Facility-specific onboarding and education modules within 30 days of start

References & Documentation

  • Two manager or supervisor references required (charge nurse references generally not accepted)
  • Verification of work history for the past 7 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually

Notes

  • No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Position does not require weekend or call coverage
  • Serious and committed candidates only
