Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day
    • Options: 0630-1700 or 0815-1845
  • On Call: After department closes until it opens; approximately 7 on-call days per month (not very busy)
  • Position Purpose: Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures in compliance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Typical Hours:
    • Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 8:15 AM - 6:45 PM
    • Thursday: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • On-call/standby after hours expected

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine license in Oregon
  • Minimum 5 years of Nuclear Medicine experience, including experience within the last year
  • Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license or state ID (passport acceptable if no driver’s license)
  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
  • Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
  • Various background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start and ongoing
  • Physical exam within one year of start
  • Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella antibody titers or vaccinations
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round)
  • Fit mask testing onsite within first week of start (unless exempt)
  • Photo for badge (white background, time sensitive)
  • Completion of facility-specific training modules and Nuclear Medicine Department DOT Highway Shipping & Transportation of RAM training

  • References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty; at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
  • Competency exams required with passing scores (e.g., 80% for competency exam, 85% for Dysrhythmia/EKG exam if applicable)
  • On-call shifts are expected but generally not busy
  • Training and certifications must be completed within specified timeframes after hire
