Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float Nurse
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with critical care experience to work night shifts as a Critical Care Float nurse. This role requires flexibility to float across ICU and critical care units.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 2 years of Critical Care Float experience, including experience within the last year
- ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Valid Driver’s License
Scheduling Details
- Every Other Week (EOW) / Every Other Holiday (EOH) scheduling pattern.
- All call-outs will be added to the end of the assignment.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI Release (background check clearance).
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start.
- Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable).
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions.
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
- Immunizations or valid declinations for:
- COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
- MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination, titer, or declination; declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, plus TB questionnaire.
- References: 2 within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Skills checklist updated annually as applicable.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must pass required competency exams with a minimum score of 80% on the first day of orientation to avoid cancellation.
- Background checks and compliance attestations must be current and uploaded as required.
- Some certifications and trainings may be required or preferred depending on the specific unit (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course for ER, Chemotherapy certification for Oncology).
- Candidates declining certain vaccines must provide facility-specific declination forms; some declinations are not accepted in Pediatrics, NICU, or Maternity units.
