Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift options (3 or 4 shifts per week), 12-hour shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 (with option for 48 hours on rotating schedule)

Job Description

• Work in Level 3 Nursery with required attendance at C-Sections
• Perform patient transports within the hospital
• Schedule includes every other weekend and 2 Fridays off in a 4-week cycle
• No on-call duties

Required Qualifications

• Current RRT or CRTT credential
• Louisiana respiratory license in hand by July start date
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required for NICU work
• Experience in Level 3 Nursery required

Experience

• Minimum years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated, but Level 3 Nursery experience is mandatory

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, sex offender, federal checks, updated annually

• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Certifications and Competencies

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required annually, 80%+ score)
• Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) updated annually
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for NICU specialty
• Other certifications such as PALS, TNCC, EFM, CPI, CHEMO not required for this role

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by facility but required by placement agency)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent)
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination signed within 12 months of start
• Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required between October 1 and March 31 (declinations and exemptions accepted with documentation)

Work Environment and Additional Information

• Facility prefers 48 hours per week but open to 36/48 rotating schedule
• No call responsibilities
• Every other weekend off, with 2 Fridays off in a 4-week period
• Must be able to attend C-Sections as part of NICU responsibilities
