Job Opportunity: GI Lab Registered Nurse

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• Weekend duty: 1 weekend per month required
• Call duty: Overnight call from 4:30 PM to 8:00 AM with a 30-minute response time
• Work setting: Acute Endoscopy (ENDO)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in an Acute Care setting
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
• Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screenings
• Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred but not mandatory
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law)
• Full 7 years of verifiable work history with no gaps over 30 days
• 2 professional references within the last 3 years required

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
• TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD testing with annual renewal
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination with mask-wearing in patient care areas
• Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person only)
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually

Certifications and Competencies

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
• Additional certifications may be required based on position (e.g., PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI) – verify with recruiter

Facility-Specific Documents and Training

• Must review and sign facility-specific documents including:

  • Job description
  • Standards of Business Conduct

  • Vendor Training (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
  • Overpayment Refund Policy
  • Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
  • TB Questionnaire (signed by candidate and healthcare provider)
• Religious exemption forms available for PAPR and certain vaccine requirements; approval required

Additional Notes

• Shift schedule is fixed and cannot be adjusted
• Weekend and call duties are mandatory
• Candidate must be able to respond within 30 minutes when on call
• All documentation must be completed and verified prior to start date

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with acute endoscopy background seeking a 13-week travel contract in California with a structured day shift and some weekend/call responsibilities.
