Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Omaha, Nebraska

Job Summary

• Position: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
• Location: Omaha, Nebraska
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), 20-bed specialty intensive care unit
• Patient Population: High acuity cardiovascular patients including stable heart and lung transplants, ventricular assist devices, and ECMO patients
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 (days and nights)
• Float Requirement: Frequent floating within scope to various units including Bellevue campus; units may include 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
• Minimum Experience: 2 years of prior experience in a large, urban hospital (higher years of experience confirmed)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; however, first-time travelers are NOT accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
• Licensure: Active RN license for Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission; otherwise booking delayed by six weeks)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred
• Skills:

  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Ability to manage drips on all floors
• Other:

  • Must be willing to float frequently within scope
  • Must work 2/3 major holidays during contract
  • Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
  • Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)

Work Schedule

• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period

  • Days: Saturday and Sunday
  • Nights: Friday night and Saturday night
• RTO (Request Time Off): Up to two weeks permitted; must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion
• RTO Blackout Dates: June 11, 2026 - June 22, 2026 (due to College World Series)

Facility Environment

• 100% Nicotine-Free Facility
• Care Team Includes: CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics, and some LPNs
• Parking: Available via permit (~$55/month) or daily rate (~$3 for 20 hours)

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 30 days of start (includes multiple checks such as SSN trace, education verification, federal enhanced search, etc.)
• State-specific registry and abuse/neglect checks required
• Physical exam and fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years
  • Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing
  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
  • COVID vaccine preferred (exemptions accepted)
• Annual skills checklist required
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years (or 1 if not a current traveler)
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs comfortable with high acuity cardiovascular patients, frequent floating, and working in a fast-paced academic medical center environment.
