Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Providence, Rhode Island
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Discipline / Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Shift: Rotating Nights/Days (3 shifts of 12 hours nights, then 3 shifts of 12 hours days)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Patient Age Group: Adults (preferred experience with Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents)
• Patient Diagnoses: COPD, Asthma, Critical Care, Emergency Care
• Special Equipment: Ventilators (Servo I required)
• Electronic Documentation: Meditech preferred

• Aerosol Set Up (Mask, Trach, Medihaler, Metered Dose Inhaler, Handheld Nebulizer, T-Piece Nebulizer, Trach Collar Nebulizer)
• HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP
• Troubleshooting High Pressure Alarms
• Weaning From Mechanical Ventilation

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Rhode Island State Respiratory Therapist License (RRT)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required for RRT candidates
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - preferred
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (Unit accepts first-time travelers)

Additional Information

• Scrubs: Any color allowed
• Patient population includes adults with preferred experience in younger age groups (neonates to adolescents)
• Rotating shifts with every other weekend coverage
• Electronic documentation experience preferred (Meditech)

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form
• Background Checks including SSN Trace, County Searches, Nationwide, Sex Offender Registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (must be completed within 30 days of start and annually)
• Fingerprinting required for Rhode Island (NCIC/BCI) for RRTs, new prints required for each assignment
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer/declination
  • Varicella vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• Drug Testing: 9 Panel Drug Screen after position acceptance
• Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually
• Professional References: 2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care (within 3 years)
• Annual competency exams and skills checklist

This position is ideal for Respiratory Therapists with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable with rotating shifts and working in critical care and emergency settings. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel therapists.
