Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Location: Snellville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience to provide care for neonates to pediatric patients. This role requires expertise in high-risk deliveries and specialized respiratory care in a hospital setting.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty
  • 1st time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Patient Population

  • Neonates to Pediatrics

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in NICU and high-risk deliveries
  • Proficient with Draeger and Servo I ventilators
  • Pulmonary toileting
  • ABG (Arterial Blood Gas) interpretation
  • Basic EKG interpretation
  • BiPAP, CPAP management
  • Trach collar care
  • Surfactant administration
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend unless otherwise specified
  • Floating: Yes, within facility including adult care and possibly to sister campus
  • Call: Optional on-call sign-up during volume variations
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall within assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • Scrub color: Hunter Green
  • Return to Office (RTO) requirement: Maximum 7 days

Compliance and Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Orientation hours vary based on contract length

Required Licenses and Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS
  • Experience working with neonate, pediatric, and high-risk patients
  • Proficient in pulmonary toileting, ABG interpretation, basic EKG, BiPAP, CPAP, trach collar care, and surfactant administration

Health and Background Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (related degree or verified tech cert/license)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest X-ray and TB questionnaire (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification of most recent employer
  • Two clinical references required

Notes

  • Candidates must pass color blindness testing or alternative assessment for blood collection tasks
  • Competency exams required for dysrhythmia/EKG and medication/pharmacology
  • Facility-specific policies on dress code and code of conduct must be reviewed and signed prior to start
