Job Overview

Required Qualifications

• Valid Paramedic license in North Carolina
• Paramedic (1 year of experience)
• Paramedic experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• High school diploma
• Driver's License
• Recent experience driving or working in the back of an ambulance/truck

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree
• PHTLS, BTLS, or ITLS
• 2–3 years of prehospital experience with a moderate call volume 911 agency

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within paramedic scope of practice under medical oversight
• Assist with patient evaluation, treatment, monitoring, documentation, and communication with the care team
• Operate and maintain ambulance and related medical equipment
• Complete vehicle inspections, road tests, fueling, cleaning, and minor maintenance
• Support patient transport, including loading/unloading and use of commonly used equipment
• Participate in precepting, continuing education outreach, public relations events, and performance improvement activities
• Provide staffing coverage across bases as needed

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and support up to 75 pounds
• Requires prolonged standing and walking
• Requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, balancing, and pulling
• Requires intact sight, hearing, smell, touch, finger dexterity, and bimanual dexterity
