Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for performing the nursing process as the foundation for patient care in a behavioral health inpatient setting. You will provide direction and oversight to licensed and non-licensed staff, deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and continually reassess individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient care needs and develop plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide and coordinate nursing care in collaboration with physicians.
- Assist in patient and family education, including discharge and aftercare planning.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff in individual and group settings.
- Document, report, and verify all necessary patient information according to policies.
- Monitor and report any potential safety risks to physicians.
- Function as a clinical leader by delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development.
- Utilize and review patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care, contributing to quality improvement.
- May be responsible for training direct care staff and overseeing medication and physical health activities.
- May assist with scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations.
- Provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients.
- Support and promote a recovery-focused, person-centered approach in the community residential setting.
- Uphold professional image and organizational mission, values, and standards.
- Maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in required programmatic training.
- May function as a charge nurse.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Michigan.
- Minimum of 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience.
- Pediatric experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in behavioral health settings.
- Excellent customer service skills and enthusiasm for behavioral health programs.
Additional Information
- Opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week with potential for additional shifts (up to 48 hours), though extra shifts are not guaranteed.
