Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Days)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description

• Provide care for all types of medical-surgical patients, including overflow of post-op surgical hips/knees.
• Patient ratios typically 4-5:1.
• Unit size: 24 beds.
• Care includes managing heparin drips.
• Telemetry tech unit monitoring is remote.
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area.
• Scrubs color: Navy blue, solids.
• Work schedule: 36-40 hours/week with overtime after 40 hours.
• Orientation scheduled on a specific date; no early or late starts.
• No blocked shifts.
• Department prefers candidates willing to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system

• First-time travel nurses are accepted; prior travel experience is not required.

This position involves working in a telemetry/medical-surgical environment with a focus on patient care, monitoring, and flexibility to float across units.
