Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Hours: 40 hours per week (8 hours per day)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 7 patients
- No call, float, or weekend requirements
- Strict 5-day maximum return to office (RTO) policy
- Scrubs color: Navy blue
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ONS/ONCC (Oncology Nursing Society/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation)
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%), updated annually
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score ≥ 80%), updated annually
- Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III), updated annually
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
- Social Security trace
- County, nationwide, sex offender, federal extended, FACIS Level 3 checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Sex offender search processed by client request
- Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines (two-step skin test or equivalent)
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted under specific conditions
- Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel of substances
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers will be considered
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit assignment (not specified for this role)
- Candidates must comply with employee appearance policy
- All certifications and verifications must be current and submitted as required
