Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 19:00 - 7:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Medical ICU
- Charting System: Epic
- Scheduling: Based on unit needs; no block schedules available
- Float Requirement: Must float to other adult ICUs as needed
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend/holiday
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience highly preferred (candidates with less than 2 years may be considered)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (including SSN trace, county search, national criminal search, and federal exclusions)
- Annual background check update required for direct hires
- Education Verification: Third-party verification of highest completed education required; transcripts acceptable if verification unavailable (diplomas not accepted)
- Statewide Clearance: Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance required within 30 days prior to start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
- Negative TB testing (2 PPDs or equivalent within required timeframes) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Required immunizations or documented immunity/declinations (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Flu, COVID-19)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 6 months of start and annually thereafter for ICU RNs; failure results in immediate cancellation
- Pass/fail medication and telemetry exams required on first day of orientation (minimum 80% score)
- References: Two references within three years of start date
- Employment History: Application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills Checklist: Required prior to start and updated annually as applicable

- Declinations for certain vaccines (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap) are not accepted for pediatric, maternity, or NICU units; this position is ICU, so declinations may be accepted per facility policy.
