Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Unit Description
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit certified as a Stroke Center and Level IV Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
- Primarily neuro-related diagnoses with telemetry overflow patients from other populations
- Opportunity to practice skills beyond neurology
Shift Details
- Day shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- 36 hours guaranteed per week
- Every other weekend and holiday required
- May be floated to other units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg and Telemetry experience within the last year
- Neurology experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS and BLS must be American Heart Association (AHA) provider certifications or equivalent
- NIH Stroke Scale certification accepted only from approved vendors (BlueCloud, Apex, AHA); Relias NIHSS not accepted
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias or Prophecy) required annually; must pass within 3 attempts
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification if required by unit
- Stroke and Trauma CEUs as required by unit (stroke CEUs must be stroke-related and updated annually; trauma CEUs required after 27 weeks of work)
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams
Health & Safety Requirements
- Respirator fit test completed onsite; PAPR training provided if fit test failed (not required for non-clinical)
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Physical exam and labs must be completed by Monday prior to start to ensure on-time start
Additional Notes
- Basic EKG exam must be successfully completed before orientation
- Candidate must be prepared to float to other units as needed
- Stroke and trauma CEUs must be uploaded and maintained according to facility requirements
- Candidate must complete and sign facility-specific consent and policy documents prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with neurology background seeking a travel contract in a specialized neuro-focused telemetry unit.
