Job Overview
- Position requires floating to multiple units including NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
- Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and will receive appropriate assignments in these areas.
Required Qualifications
- License: Ohio State RN license or Compact RN license required.
- Experience: Prefer close to 2 years of nursing experience.
- References: Two professional supervisory references required; at least one must be from a supervisor or manager (Charge RN acceptable). Peer references are not accepted.
- Skills: Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for NICU RNs only.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required as applicable.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – Required as applicable.
All certification names must exactly match legal name on RN license. Screenshots or photos are not acceptable.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year county search and education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
- Fingerprinting (Ohio BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry search, Ohio Inmate Registry search, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification required, including highest degree verification. Special approval needed if nursing diploma is below ASN/BSN.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, methadone, phencyclidine, fentanyl. Must be initiated within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Employment application and copy of resume required.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (facility accepts signed Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical exam copy).
- N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually. Acceptable masks include 3M 1860/1860S, Moldex 1513/1511, and Halyard N95 46727/46827. Candidates unable to complete prior to start may test onsite with proof of appointment.
- TDAP vaccine required within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11). Titer not accepted in place of vaccine record.
- TB testing options: Two PPDs (first within 12 months, second within 90 days) or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months. For positive results, additional chest x-ray and treatment documentation required. TB testing not required annually unless there is a break in assignment, specialty/unit change, or agency flip.
- Flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31. Declination not accepted; medical/religious exemptions require facility approval and completion of exemption policy.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity required via positive titer or two vaccines. Religious exemptions not accepted. If titer negative or equivocal, two boosters required with at least 28 days between doses. Candidate can start with second booster pending but must complete both.
- Hepatitis B: Declination, completed 3-vaccine series, or positive titer required. Negative/equivocal titer allows declination.
- Varicella: Positive titer or two vaccines required. Negative/equivocal titer requires two boosters with 28 days apart. Candidate can start with second booster pending but must complete both.
Additional Requirements
- Current government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing; temporary IDs or paper licenses are not acceptable. Legal name on ID must match RN license and certifications exactly.
- Candidates must comply with facility-specific infection control policies and complete required facility-specific documents prior to start.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
